Domain-Registration
Domain Name Registration
Our service package includes the registration and administration of a domain name of the domain types offered by us (.at, .de, .com, etc). You have chosen this domain name yourself with of your order.
We register this domain name with the domain registry responsible for this domain type on your behalf and in your name. The property rights and rights of disposal over this domain name are exclusively with you.
We pay the ongoing usage rights (domain fees) for all domain types offered by us for you as long as your contract with us is active. These fees are included in our package price.
If you want to use a domain name whose domain type is not offered by us, you can alternatively register this domain name yourself and pay the ongoing usage fees to the domain registry. However, this does not cause any reduction of the package price with us.
If you have already registered a domain name, you can of course also use it with your e-mail service package with us. If it is a domain type offered by us, we will transfer your domain into our administration and take care of the payment of the domain fees as long as the contract with us is active. If the domain type is not offered by us, you will have to continue paying the domain fees yourself directly to the responsible domain registry.
Domain Name Management (DNS)
Since it is necessary for the operation of e-mail services to make regular entries and adjustments in the domain name server (DNS) responsible for the domain, each domain used with Mailix must be in our domain administration and use our DNS servers. Using external or third-party DNS servers with Mailix may only be possible on a case-by-case basis, upon request, and will result in a reduction of the quality of service.
Domain Name Transfer
If a domain name was not registered by us anyway, we have to transfer it to our administration at the beginning of our contract with you. In doing so, we try to take over all existing DNS entries, so that a possibly existing link to a homepage or other services is not affected. In case of a domain transfer please inform the existing domain provider in advance about the transfer and authorize them to hand over the DNS entries completely to us. Agree to a possible request of the domain registry because of the provider change.
If a domain name maintained by us is transferred to another provider, all your email addresses will be inaccessible from the time of the transfer and all email service will be stopped. Therefore, be sure to avoid domain transfers during the term of your contract with us.
Connecting homepages and websites to your email domain name.
It is easily possible to use your domain name used for e-mail additionally for your website or homepage too. For this purpose, please provide us with the IP address of your web space at the homepage provider. We will create such a link for you free of charge.
Please be careful not to automatically transfer your domain name to another provider when ordering a homepage or web space, as it is often done by default. Otherwise, your email will stop working and we may charge a fee to transfer your domain name back to us. Be sure to specify that you “manage the domain name yourself” when ordering.
Fate of your domain name after termination of the contract with Mailix.
When the contractual relationship with us ends, we give up the management of your domain name and notify the domain registry responsible for the domain type about that.
Depending on the terms and conditions of the domain registry, the current usage fee of the domain name can be charged directly to you or in some cases your domain may be deleted after a certain period of waiting time.
You as the owner of your domain name can transfer it to any other provider completely independent from us or you can buy a DNS service and manage it yourself.
In no case we have any right of retention on your domain name.
