Sub-Addressing
What is sub-addressing?
Mailbox supports the so-called sub-addressing / mail tagging / plus-addressing (according to RFC 5233) in e-mail addresses.
Thereby specially formed e-mail addresses can be used, which automatically trigger pre-configured actions when messages are received.
An example:
Your actual email address is peter@mydomain.com
. You can now log into Facebook and enter the email address peter+facebook@mydomain.com
there.
Any email message to this address will be received normally in your mailbox peter@mydomain.com
and will automatically trigger the action you set for subaddresses.
Available actions for subaddresses:
-
move this message to a subfolder
facebook
(will be created if not existing). -
prefix the subject with the tag: ("[facebook] subject")
You can use sub-addresses quite spontaneously without any setup. Only the action has to be set and is valid for all sub-addresses the same.
