Encryption

All data at Mailix is encrypted.

At Mailix, we take data security extremely seriously. That’s why all the data we store on our servers is completely encrypted. The messages in your mailboxes are stored by us in the same encrypted form and not in plain text as all access IDs.

Every email message we receive is encrypted upon receipt and remains encrypted until we pass it on again or it is retrieved.

The ideal situation is when messages come to us already encrypted and we can also pass them on encrypted. We always aim for this by default and this is the preferred default in all our settings. Unfortunately, this is not always within our control because it depends on the mail server at the other end.

Is the transport route always encrypted?

Unfortunately, there are still some mail servers on the Internet that do not support encrypted transmission of e-mail messages. Therefore, we are forced to accept and send e-mail messages that are transmitted in clear text at the entrance and exit to our systems. Otherwise we would not be able to accept or send some messages. However, we ask every other mail server that contacts us or that we contact if they can handle encrypted transmission and, if so, encrypted transmission is always preferred.

Can Mailix also guarantee encrypted transport?

Yes, of course. We offer as a chargeable additional option to accept or send your e-mail messages only encrypted. Your e-mail package is then automatically preset by us in this way and all plain text transmissions to and from e-mail addresses in your domain name are then automatically rejected with an appropriate error message.

This option is particularly suitable for sensitive industries, such as finance, health or similar. It is easy to activate when ordering and can be ordered at any time afterwards. Just open a support ticket.
